• Dear Ohio Avenue Families,

    As we prepare for the 2023-2024 school year, I am excited to begin my second year as principal of Ohio Avenue Elementary. Our school is a truly amazing place for students to learn and grow.

    We know that all students are leaders and gifted in so many different ways, and it is our job to make sure we provide opportunities for every student to recognize his/her potential. I am blessed and humbled to have the opportunity to work with this amazing staff, awesome students, and supportive parents. Together, we will make this a reality. I can’t wait to see you all again, and if we haven’t met yet, I am sincerely looking forward to the opportunity to engage with you!

    This year, we will be welcoming a couple new faces to our staff: Diana Valladares (3rd Grade), Karen Gynn (Physical Education) Sara Reynolds (Peak IA) and Robert McFaddin (Art). We will be updating our staff page on the Ohio Avenues website to reflect these changes https://www.ccsoh.us/ohioavenueES. You will also be able to find other important information and announcements on this site.

    INFINITE CAMPUS is our parent portal and student information system. This site allows parents to access more school information electronically. In an effort to ensure that we have the most accurate information in Infinite Campus for each student, please utilize the Annual Update in the Parent Portal to update addresses and other demographic information. Reminder, school secretaries will no longer have access to update address and household information (secretaries will be able to update phone numbers only). You will also be able to access your child’s grade cards electronically, and you will be able to pay your child’s school fees through this site as well. The site will be open a week before school begins. If you have not previously activated your Parent Portal account, or if you need further assistance in setting up your Parent Portal account, or retrieving your Username/Password, please email a picture ID, along with your child's name and date of birth to parentportalaccess@columbus.k12.oh.us.

    Welcome Back Event: Kindergarten through fifth grade students will be able to find out their teacher assignment at our Welcome Back event on Monday, August 21st from 4:00-7:00 PM. Your child will have an opportunity to meet his/her teacher. This will be an informal event in an effort to have students attend and navigate through the halls. Food will be provided if you want to enjoy some dinner. The playground will also be accessible. Your child can bring supplies on the first day of school (the supply list is posted on the school’s website) and we will post teacher assignments in the parent portal a week before school begins (if all goes according to plan).

    Monday, August 21st: Meet The Teacher (4:00-7 pm)

    Tuesday, August 22nd - Building closed to prepare for school

    Wednesday, August 23rd - First Day of School (Grades 1-5)

    Monday, August 28th - First Day of School for Kindergartners

    Monday, September 4th - Labor Day (No school)

    Thursday, September 7th - First Day of School for Pre-K students

    *Transportation information will be ready soon and will be mailed to you. It will also be accessible through your Parent Portal prior to the first day of school.
