• Champion Middle School is the Home of the Tigers!

    Champion Middle School is located on Columbus' East Side. It is an area know as the King-Lincoln District. This a historic neighborhood that is currently in partnership with the Ohio State University and the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.  

    Champion Middle School is designated as a Health Science Academy with the partnership of the OSU Colleges and OSU Wexner Medical Centers.  All East Side Schools: East HS, Eastgate ES, Trevitt ES, Ohio ES, East Columbus, and Champion, are designated Health Science Academies. 

    What does that mean?  

    • Champion has a monthly focus on health information and practices.  For example, in Aug-September we focus on healthy eating and immunizations.  
    • Champion Students participate in the Community Classroom Study.  A selected group of students each month visit Health Institutions, Organizations , and Facilities to learn about community and public health. 
    • Champion Students visit Columbus Community College to participate in Fantastic Fridays.  This program gives students hands on science experiences with science professionals.
    • Champion Students participate in COSI days of color and COSI on wheels. 
    • Champion Students participate in a display of learning at the Health Science Academy Fair at East HS. 
    • Champion Students participate in a Science / Health Book Read. For example student read the book " Gifted Hands."  Students studied science areas from the book and completed projects based on this story. Champion Students in the future will get high school credit on Health Science Classes.   
    • Champion Students participate in the Future Doctor Club
    • Champion Students have Health / Science Research Day on the OSU campus in the spring
    • Champion has an Urban Garden- Started by American Heart Association now in partnership with Franklin Park Conservatory.
    • Champion Students participate in the new Science Olympiad Team. 
    • Champion Students participate on the Robotics Team.

     

    The PBIS Program at Champion is achieved through Restorative Practices. Through this unique and constructive approach, we practice R.O.A.R.

    Students wear khaki or black on the bottom and white, orange, black collard shirt.
