Good Evening Woodward Park families. This is Paul Bailey, the Proud Principal at Woodward Park calling with this week’s announcements and high lights. This week we will continue with our Jameson Boy’s Mentorship Group and the TAPS programs here at the Big Park. Also, we will be meeting with our 7th and 8th grade girls of whom their teachers have identified that could benefit from the Beautiful Me girl’s mentorship group. Parents of any 7th and 8th grade young lady who would like to have their daughter participate in this mentorship, feel free to e-mail me at pbailey5748@columbus.k12.oh.us We will be meeting with these young ladies tomorrow, Monday, Oct 10th during first period. At the Little Park, our ATM for youth partners and Dr. Arrington are working to identify students for our student voice groups during lunch. We are excited for the opportunities to support our students and to hear their voice on important topics and issues, as we work to develop the next generation of young leaders.
This Thursday, from 2;30-4;30 we will have Mastery Academy, our after school tutoring program, at both Parks. The activity bus will be available to students to take home and arrives around 5. The activity bus will only stop at specific stops and students must choose the stop closest to their home. It is expected that students will stay the entire time during mastery academy. We will only release students early if their parent comes to the main office and picks them up. Otherwise, no students will be release, again, unless a parent comes to pick them up.
Parents, please talk with your student about their behavior choices while at school. As we head into the 7th week of school, our goal is to be the best behaviorally and academically performing middle school in the district and to reach this goal it is imperative that we work together to assist our students with making choices that will affect them in positive ways. Also, it is imperative that our students are at school each and every day and on time by 7:30. Those students who miss more than 1 day of school per month, regardless of the reason, are and will be considered chronically absent
Finally, parents, thank you so much for your support of our efforts to educate, elevate and motivate our students toward academic and behavioral success. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, Oct 20th and Tuesday, Oct 25th from 3:30-7pm. You should have received an e-mail to sign up for a time. If you have not, please reach out to your child’s teachers. We look forward to seeing your student each day this week on time.
