Dedicated to Excellence in Education
Whose IDEA is this?
Special education and related services are provided in public schools at no cost to the parents and can include special instruction in the classroom, at home, in hospitals or institutions, or in other settings. Related services means transportation and such developmental, corrective, and other supportive services as are required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education. Related services also includes school health services and school nurse services, social work services in schools, and parent counseling and training.
A new special education procedural safeguards notice, A Guide to Parent Rights in Special Education, is now available for district and parent use. This publication replaces the earlier procedural safeguards notice, Whose IDEA Is This?
This guide is also available in other languages. Please visit the Ohio Department of Education website for more information.
