A Message From the Office of
Paul J. Bailey, Principal
Woodward Park Middle School
& WP @ Walden (Grade 6)
Sunday, January 3, 2021
Good Evening WP Families and Scholars, this is Paul Bailey, the proud Principal of Woodward Park calling to wish all of our WP family a Happy New Year and to welcome back our students to their virtual learning beginning tomorrow, Monday, January 4, 2021. Remember that first period begins promptly at 8:30. Families, we have been through so much together since the start of the school year with getting used to virtual learning, zoom classes, google classroom, on-line learning platforms, chromebook technical issues, and so much more, but together, we got through it. Together we supported each other. Together we have given our students learning opportunities so that students can still demonstrate high levels of engagement, achievement and success. Parents we realize this has been hard on you as well as you try to balance working either in or out of the home, making sure your student is completing their assignments, zooming into their classes, and entering their attendance. Thank you so much to all of our awesome moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents and other care-givers who have been working with our kids at home to ensure their learning continues.
As of tomorrow there are just 2 weeks left in the 2nd quarter. Our amazing teachers worked with students and parents the two days before winter break to begin creating success plans for those students who need an extra boost in order to complete their assignments to demonstrate their knowledge of grade level content. Any and all missing assignments for the 2nd quarter will be due on Friday, January 15, 2021 by 2:45 PM. Here is the key to experience student success. 1. Log into all zoom classes every day and engage. 2. Enter your attendance into the student portal every day for every class. 3. Complete all assignments on time. 4. Reach out for help and attend your teachers extra help sessions (AKA office hours) on Wednesdays. If ALL students did all 4 of those things, they will experience success!!
If your student is in need of tech support or you are having chromebook issues, please be sure to reach out to their grade level principal or me via e-mail to schedule a time for tech support. Again, our staff is working remotely and there is no one in the office to take your call. All of our staff’s e-mail addresses are on the WP website.
Each new year will bring its highs and lows, challenges and opportunities and good and bad. I challenge our WP family to seize this new year and choose hope over fear, joy over despair, and to spread love and kindness where ever we go. Thank you for working with us as partners in our students’ education. I wish all of you many blessings in 2021. Thank you and have a great evening.
