• A Message From the Office of

    Paul J. Bailey, Principal

    Woodward Park Middle School

    & WP @ Walden (Grade 6)

    October 1, 2023

Good Evening Woodward Park Family. This is Paul Bailey, the proud Principal of Woodward Park calling to calling with this week’s announcements and highlights. Just a few reminders as students and families prepare for another great week of learning.

I would like to give a huge shout out to the vast majority of our students who have been demonstrating positive behavior and a focus for academics! The vast majority of our students are following our building-wide expectations and our core values of prompt, prepared, productive and polite! The vast majority of our students are working hard in class, following their teachers’ directions and earning their grades. Our students who do not have more than 2 behavior referral and no in-school or out of school suspensions during the first quarter will be invited to attend our rewards party at the end of the month, after school. Thank you parents for reinforcing our expectations with your students so that we can have the best building climate in the city!

Mastery Academy continues this week, which is our after-school tutoring program. Mastery Academy runs each week at the Little Park for our 6th graders on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 and at the Big Park for our 7th & 8th graders on Thursdays from 2:30-4:30. This is a great time for students to receive extra help on grade level content and standards as well as a quiet place and space for students to work on homework or on those assignments such as iReady my pathway work in both reading and math and ALEKS, our on-line math platform. We hope our students take advantage of Mastery Academy beginning this week.

The month of October we will be focusing on our 2nd Core Value of being Prepared. In order to prepare for school each day students should have homework completed by the due date and the chromebooks fully charged to start the day. We are also focusing on the social & emotional learning pillar of self-management. Students must self-manage themselves and discipline themselves in order to prepare for each new day of learning.

Parents, thank you so much for your support of our efforts to educate, elevate and motivate every child every day as we work to achieve our vision of each student performing at or above grade level by June 2024. We look forward to seeing each student everyday this week on time. Thank you and have a great evening.

    Mr. Bailey

    Principal
