    American Electric Power Foundation forged a partnership with Columbus State Community College and Columbus City Schools and created the Credits CountSM program.  

    Credits Count is a two-year College Credit Plus (CCP) computer science program through Columbus State where students can earn college credit toward a certificate or college degree in Information Technology.   

    The Information Technology (IT) Pathway offered at Whetstone focuses on computer science and includes courses in computer concepts and application, web design and development, and software programming.  Students can earn up to 12 college credits when completing the entire program. 

    In the first year, students take the following Columbus State courses: 

    • CSCI 1101 – Computer Concepts and Applications 
    • CSCI 1103 – Introduction to Programming 

    In the second year, students take the following Columbus State courses: 

    • CSCI 1145 – HTML (web design) 
    • CSCI 1511 – Python Programming 

    The courses count toward multiple technology programs at CSCC, such as software developer, network security, web developer, and network administrator.
