What will the school calendars and schedule look like from now through June?
Please see our postings of both the traditional and the Woodcrest Elementary Blended Learning school calendars for both cohorts HERE.
-
How do I know which days my child goes to school and which days my child learns from home?
Parents/guardians were given the opportunity to choose their preferred blended learning weekly schedule for their students. If you did not choose a preference, a schedule was assigned to your student. Your student’s cohort assignment can be found in the Parent Portal.
Cohort A: Students will attend classes in-person on Monday and Tuesday and participate in remote learning on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Cohort B: Students will attend classes on Thursday and Friday and participate in remote learning on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
All students will learn virtually on Wednesdays.
-
What will my child's day look like on Wednesday (the all-remote day)?
Students will participate in a synchronous (live with the teacher) morning meeting, asynchronous (independently w/o a live teacher) content (ELA, Math, SS, & Sci) lessons, synchronous unified arts lessons, and may also participate in synchronous small group intervention or enrichment depending on student identified need. -
What will my child's day look like on the "Click Days" when they are working from home?
Cohort A "Click Days" are Thursday and Friday, while Cohort B "Click Days" are Monday and Tuesday. Students will participate in asynchronous (independently without a live teacher) content (ELA, Math, SS, and Sci) lessons, synchronous (live with the teacher) unified arts lessons, and may also participate in synchronous small group intervention or enrichment depending on student identified need.
-
How do I know which Cohort my student is assigned?
If you don’t already know your students’ Cohort assignment, login to your Parent Portal to find out:
- If a parent/guardian cannot log into their Parent Portal Account in Infinite Campus, they can get access by sending a picture ID, along with the child's name and date of birth, to parentportalaccess@columbus.k12.oh.us.
- If a parent/guardian was able to log in before but can't remember the password, just hit "reset the password," and an automatic email will be sent to the email they used when they signed up.
- If a parent/guardian does not remember the email used when the account was set up, they can send an email with their picture ID, the student's name, and date of birth to parentportalaccess@columbus.k12.oh.us to have this information reset.
-
Can I change my child's cohort day?
You can request a change, but it may or may not be granted based on transportation and classroom size balance. All decisions about cohort assignments are based on a safe in-person learning environment. Requests for a change in your child’s cohort must be made through your Parent Portal Account beginning January 22, 2021.
-
How can I make sure my children, regardless of grade level, are in the same cohort?
The District makes every attempt to keep households together. Please contact your school building administrator if that is not the case.
-
If my student goes to one of the career centers do they go two days or four days per week?
Under the blended learning plan, Career and Technical Education (CTE) students at Columbus Downtown High School and Fort Hayes Career Center will attend school in-person two days per week and learn remotely the other three days of the week. CTE students will be assigned a Cohort schedule just as for other students.
-
What will Physical Education classes look like for secondary students?
Secondary physical education in the blended learning environment will include activities that require no physical contact and do not require students to be in close physical proximity to each other. Teachers will select activities that include little to no use of shared equipment by students.
-
What is learning like when my child is NOT in the classroom?
On days when students are not scheduled to be at school, they will work independently at their own pace, or asynchronously, on core content assignments that include Math, Science, Reading, and Social Studies and remote with Unified Arts classes in alignment with their remote instruction days. On Wednesdays, students will have a remote class meeting with their teacher and may have opportunities for small group instruction/intervention.
-
Can I register my child for the Digital Academy?
Registration for the second semester, which begins on January 20, remains open for families who want to enroll their students in the CCS Digital Academy, a completely remote and self-paced learning option for students in Kindergarten through 12th-grade.
As the District prepares for the transition to a blended learning model, all CCS Digital Academy students will remain in a completely remote learning environment.
Enrollment for the CCS Digital Academy has been extended until February 12, 2021, in order to give parents the opportunity to decide what is best for their scholars. Visit your Parent Portal for information on how to register.
