School Realignment
-
The School Realignment Planning Committee is actively working to realign five schools within our district to enhance the educational experience and strengthen our school communities. We are dedicated to prioritizing students in every decision we make, guided by the following core principles:
- Keeping students at the center of all decisions.
- Engaging our communities in genuine two-way conversations.
- Remaining adaptable, knowing that changes will be needed along the way.
- Acting with integrity—saying what we mean and doing what we say.
- Ensuring that our actions support long-term, sustainable success.
Since the committee’s first meeting on January 31, 2025, the School Realignment Planning Committee will meet regularly every two weeks, as the District moves forward with developing a phased project plan for the realignment. Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman will provide monthly updates to the Board of Education during its regular business meetings.
The committee is progressing with a phased approach, starting with elementary schools and moving on to middle and high schools. We anticipate finalizing the plan by June 2025, and will then be presented to the Board for review. This timeline ensures ample opportunity for thorough preparation, support, and community involvement.
Recent steps include planning for community engagement meetings for each of the five school communities, collaborating with our GIS team to assess receiving schools, and planning visits to ensure readiness for each phase. As we continue this process, we remain committed to clear communication and transparency, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved every step of the way.
