    What's Happening?

After more than 50 years of serving thousands of students, Moler Elementary will close at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. It’s a testament to the love and care of the community that this building was able to serve as a hub of education and connection for the neighborhood for generations.

Columbus City Schools is committed to making the transition as seamless as possible for students and families, so there’s no interruption to your child’s educational journey. Over the next few months, we will work with you to ensure a warm welcome into your future school family.

  • What This Means for Your Child?

Beginning next school year, your child will be assigned to a school in your neighborhood based on updated boundary maps. We are starting the process now to determine options for families in your area, and you can be a part of that process by attending the upcoming public meetings. We will continue to share updates on the School Realignment website: tinyurl.com/SchoolsRealign.

  • Why Close Moler?

After listening to families and engaging a public task force to review the condition of buildings, rising maintenance costs, and the unequal spread of academic programs – the Columbus City Board of Education voted to retire several aging schools, including Moler.

While we respect the memories these buildings hold, the sites being closed are expensive to maintain and operate. These closures will allow the District to offer students better quality programs, technology and services that can only be found at our newer, upgraded buildings. By closing older schools, we will maximize our resources to make sure students are learning in facilities that meet the needs of the future.
