December 11, 2023 – On Wednesday, December 6, CCS experienced a proud moment when it received prestigious accolades at the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) awards showcase. PBIS is a proactive approach emphasizing evidence-based practices and high-quality execution, proven to enhance student achievement, behavior, and school climate.

This recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of school teams within the District, actively engaged in team-based planning and problem-solving to implement PBIS interventions and supports.

Today, the District joyfully celebrates the achievements of its 50 schools, each earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze distinctions for their exceptional endeavors in fostering positive behavior and cultivating a conducive learning atmosphere.

"Observing the positive impact of our PBIS implementation efforts is truly heartening," said Dr. Angela Chapman, superintendent and CEO of Columbus City Schools. "This recognition mirrors the dedication of our educators, staff, and administrators in creating an environment that promotes the well-being and success of every student."

The District will receive formal honors at the 2023 Ohio PBIS Showcase, in collaboration with the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council (OLAC), during a virtual conference event scheduled for January 31, 2024. The conference theme, "Future Forward: Accelerating Leadership and Learning," resonates with the progressive strides made by the CCS District in implementing PBIS strategies.

As CCS celebrates the success of 50 schools earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze distinctions for their exemplary PBIS efforts, the District sets an ambitious goal for the next school year.

CCS dedicates itself to doubling its impact, aiming to have 100 schools honored for fostering positive behavior and a conducive learning atmosphere next year.  This statewide recognition reflects the District's commitment to creating a supportive environment for the well-being and success of every student.

Congratulations to all the District’s PBIS award winners!
