Meeting Agenda Topics

The meeting agenda topics include:

15.5 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with 22nc Century Technologies, Inc. This agreement provides for 30 technical field technicians and a team lead.  Having these additional resources reduces the number of schools assigned to each technician. In addition, it allows each school to have a technician in their building for a half day each day of the week. Technicians can proactively resolve issues and prepare for school building activities, such as online testing and special programming.

16.69 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All: The Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Sysco Cleveland, Inc. to purchase groceries and general supplies. The Office of Food Service has a continuing need to purchase milk and juice products for over 45,000 students.

16.70 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All: The Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with United Dairy, Inc. to purchase dairy and juice. The Office of Food Service has a continuing need to purchase grocery and general supplies for over 45,000 students.

19.8 -  Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Regino, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Roberts Service Group, Inc. for the Fire Alarm Upgrades. These projects will focus on making investments in fire alarm systems, including features such as both audible and visual notifications, voice annunciation, and automated notification for emergency response.  This contract incorporates fire alarm system upgrades at (4) four sites: Eakin ES, Valleyview ES, Siebert ES, and Westmoor MS.

19.11 -  Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with McDaniels Construction Cop., Inc. Consistent with Board Policy 6440 - Cooperative Purchasing, the Board of Education recognizes the advantages of centralized purchasing and encourages the administration to seek advantages in savings that may accrue to this District through joint agreements for the purchase of supplies, equipment, or services. The district will prioritize these projects due to the poor condition of existing facilities.

23.2 -  Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Buckeye Best Medical Transportation for students experiencing homelessness and/or in the foster care system in order to receive timely transportation for FY2025. Columbus City Schools (CCS) complies with the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (PL 100-77), and Every Student Succeeds Acts (ESSA), which requires schools to immediately enroll children and youth, including unaccompanied youth and preschool-age children. CCS will continue to use several sources of transportation for students experiencing homelessness or those who are foster-placed as appropriate and available. These transportation services include:

  • CCS yellow school buses

  • COTA bus passes

  • Specialized on-call private transportation where required, including Buckeyes Best Medical Transportation

24.1 -  Supporting Whole-Child Focused, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with City Year Columbus. City Year Columbus partners with some of our most at-risk schools to help bridge the gap between what our students need and what the schools are designed to provide. City Year Columbus has been one of the most impactful Near-Peer mentor programs measured in the past 30 years. The effects of AmeriCorps members on students’ attendance, behavior, and course completion have positively impacted student achievement, which can be attributed to a unique holistic approach.
