CCS Announces Two New Principalships Ahead of 2024-2025 School Year

August 7, 2024 -- Columbus City Schools is pleased to announce two new principalshipships ahead of the 2024-2025 school year.

Devonshire Elementary School

Dr. PeddleWe are pleased to announce that Anthony Peddle has been appointed as the new Principal of Devonshire Elementary School. Dr. Peddle brings a wealth of experience and a strong background in educational leadership, making him an excellent addition to our school community.

Dr. Peddle holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies from Ashland University, where he completed a dissertation on trauma-informed classroom practices. He also has a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Ashland University and a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ohio Wesleyan University. His extensive educational background is complemented by his professional certifications, including a 5-Year Professional Early Childhood (P-3) License and a 5-Year Professional Principal License.

Dr. Peddle has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering student success and supporting educators throughout his career. His role as an Assistant Principal at Devonshire Project Adventure Elementary School, where he supervised and coached teachers, managed vital programs, and contributed to creating a positive and effective learning environment, is a testament to this commitment. His experience as a Leadership Intern and Teacher in various roles within Columbus City Schools has equipped him with the skills necessary to lead and inspire our school community.

Dr. Peddle's passion for identity development, student success, and educational diversity is inspiring. His published research on these topics and active participation in professional organizations demonstrate his commitment to staying at the forefront of educational leadership and best practices.

We welcome Dr. Peddle to his new role as Principal of Devonshire Elementary School. His wealth of experience, strong educational background, and passion for student success make us optimistic about his positive impact on our school.

 

Champion Middle School

kay fields battleWe are excited to announce Kay Fields-Battle's appointment as the new Principal of Champion Middle School. Kay brings extensive experience and a solid commitment to educational excellence to her new role.

Kay has been with Columbus City Schools since 1996, serving in various capacities, including her most recent role as Assistant Principal at Centennial High School. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing programs that enhance student behavior and academic performance and organizing numerous educational events and initiatives.

Her experience includes positions as a Leadership Intern, Diplomas Now ELA Coach, and English Educator. Kay's dedication to student success, innovative instructional strategies, and community engagement have made her a respected leader in the District.

Kay holds a Master's in Educational Leadership and Allied Professions from the University of Dayton and a B.A. in Education and English from Denison University. She is licensed as a Principal for Grades 4-9 and 5-12 in Ohio.

Known for her resourceful and innovative approach to education, Kay is committed to fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and socially. Her excellent communication skills and strong relationships with students, staff, and parents will be crucial to her success at Champion Middle School.
