Board of Education Meeting

Tuesday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m., South Administrative Building, 3700 S. High St., Room 825.

Viewing the Board Meeting 

The Columbus Board of Education’s regular business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the District’s South Administrative Center, 3700 S. High Street.

The Columbus Board of Education will hold regular office hours before all regular business meetings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. The office hours will allow community members to meet with Board members one-on-one, ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns.

Meeting Agenda Topics

The meeting agenda topics include:

13.1 - Supporting Authentic Engagement and Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Zonar Systems, Inc. Zonar Systems, Inc., installed Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and electronic vehicle inspection hardware on board-owned vehicles in 2007. This system provides support inspections, navigation, vehicle diagnostics, and data on the status of various systems.

15.2 - Supporting Whole-Child Focused and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Empower Behavioral Health and Intervention. Empowered Behavioral Health and Intervention educates students with serious and complex behavioral and educational challenges. The Empower Behavioral Health and Intervention utilizes evidence-based methodologies and data-based strategies to encourage social, emotional, and behavioral success of students.

15.9 - Supporting Whole-Child Focus, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with McGraw-Hill, LLC Publishing. The district currently utilizes McGraw Hill’s StudySync for comprehensive curriculum resources for English Language Arts and the Reveal Math Learning System for Mathematics (digital and print). These were selected as part of the most recent Math and English Language Arts textbook and resource adoption in 2021 conducted through the district’s RFP process. This purchase provides a partnership in carrying out community literacy projects to build literacy around English language and Mathematics literacy aligned to adopted resources. Additionally, this purchase will provide educators high-quality professional learning to effectively utilize these resources and improve student math achievement. McGraw-Hill School Education Holdings professional learning series was developed from rich research that was drawn from the most current studies in pedagogy, learning, technology, and student engagement.

Board Meeting - Public Comment Registration

Anyone wishing to comment publicly can address the Board in person or by telephone. To sign up, public participants must call to leave a voicemail with Customer Relations at 614-365-8888 or email customerrelations@columbus.k12.oh.us by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27. Speakers will need to provide their name, topic, and phone number.
