Meeting Agenda Topics

The meeting agenda topics include:

14.3 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Communications Design Group to assist with the communication upgrades for district buildings. THe goal of this grant is for the CCS Safety and Security Department to advance the security radio units, which will allow communication throughout the school district, eliminate areas within schools that have dead zones or poor reception, and create a vulnerability for security and school staff when requesting assistance.

16.2 - Supporting Whole-Child Focused and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Waterford Institute. The Waterford Institute is a non-profit research organization that works with government, education, and philanthropic organizations to create innovative, impactful intervention programs.  As a result of the collaboration, all Early Childhood Students will utilize the reading program in their classrooms. The program focuses on five key early childhood components: (1) Proven early learning software, (2) Family engagement, (3) Training, progress monitoring, and motivation, (4) Data driven supports, (5) Evaluation and feedback. As a result of this collaboration, district ECE teachers and staff will benefit from extensive, robust, job embedded, professional development focusing on the implementation, integration, and fidelity of utilizing this program.

16.7 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for all, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Ashland University’s eAshland. Ashland has an outstanding reputation, offers our certificated staff a wide selection of courses, serves as a local resource for Columbus City Schools, and has been providing these courses/credits to our certificated staff for 21 years. Ashland University will offer up to 27 Outreach courses from September 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 to Columbus City Schools' certificated staff. Last school year, 425 Columbus City Schools certificated staff members earned graduate credit in 27 different Outreach courses.

21.3 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, and Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with for technical field support. This agreement provides 52 technical field technicians and 2 team lead to the field support team. Having these additional resources reduces the number of schools assigned to each technician. In addition, it allows each school to have a technician in their building for a half day, each day of the week. Technicians can be proactive in resolving issues and preparing for school building activities, such as on-line testing and special programming.
