Columbus Board of Education Welcomes New Leadership Roles for 2025
The Columbus Board of Education convened for its initial session of the New Year on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, assigning crucial leadership roles.
With a shift in leadership for 2025. Board member Michael Cole secured the position of Board President through peer voting for the coming year. Cole is currently in his third term, which expires December 31, 2025.
Cole further elaborated on his commitment to the Board's work going forward.
“I believe, with all of my heart, that we have the right people at the table. Irrespective of our missteps, mistakes, failures, whatever we want to call them. I believe there are opportunities for us to learn, grow, and improve as we move forward. By doing so, we can become a model for others, our children and colleagues within the organization, demonstrating how to collaborate effectively and build a stronger, unified future together,” said Cole.
Board member Jennifer Adair, re-elected in November 2023, steps into the role of Vice President for 2025. Her term expires on December 31, 2027.
“I'm just gonna echo what past president Vera said. I think it's incredibly important that we come together as a seven of us at this table and it doesn't really matter the seats that we honestly sit in, said Adair. “There's so much incredible work that has to be done that we all need to be focused on and really strive to do what we all took our oaths of office to do. And that means that we are here to improve student outcomes and make them really hard decisions. And, you know, I vow to continue to do the hard work that I've been doing in a variety of seats. I'm excited to be working with all of you again for another year. You can look forward to the work ahead.”
The next Board business meeting will be held at Southland Center, 3700 S. High Street, Suite 825 January 21, starting at 6:00 p.m.
