Board of Education Meeting

Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m., South Administrative Building, 3700 S. High St., Room 825.

Viewing the Board Meeting 

The Columbus Board of Education’s regular business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the District’s South Administrative Center, 3700 S. High Street.

The Columbus Board of Education will hold regular office hours before all regular business meetings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. The office hours will allow community members to meet with Board members one-on-one, ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns.

Business and Operations Legislation

13.1 - Supporting Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to purchase 60 school buses from Rush Truck Center of Ohio. This will allow the district to be consistent with the bus replacement plan. These buses are powered, with Cummins engines that meet the highest emission standards.  The buses are fueled by ultra-refined clean diesel which significantly reduces pollutants emitted by diesel engines. The reduction of contaminants in clean diesel also allows  improved fuel efficiency.

Curriculum and Instruction Legislation 

15.2 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Scholastic, Inc. Data shows that on average elementary school students experience a two month slide between end of the year test scores and the beginning of the ear. The district will invest in students in grades Preschool through Fifth, to have resources to take home with them for the summer.

Strategic Performance Legislation

19.1 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement,  the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Microsoft, CDW-G. Continuation of this agreement includes the annual license fee for the office suite used by staff and students, as well as the server, virtual desktop and remote desktop access software licensing. Through the agreement district staff and students have the ability to download and use Microsoft Office on devices owned by the individual at no additional cost to the user or the district.

Board Meeting - Public Comment Registration

Anyone wishing to comment publicly can address the Board in person or by telephone. To sign up, public participants must call to leave a voicemail with Customer Relations at 614-365-8888 or email customerrelations@columbus.k12.oh.us by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. Speakers will need to provide their name, topic, and phone number.
