April 5, 2022 -- Families across Columbus City Schools may soon be getting a phone call, text, or email from Engage Ohio as part of a new partnership to boost school engagement, attendance, and academic success.
We’re partnering with the Ohio Department of Education, Graduation Alliance, and Engage Ohio to connect families with more FREE academic resources and support at home, especially for students who may have missed an average of one or more days a week throughout the school year. We know how tough it can be to catch up.
Families who sign up for the no-cost program will be assigned an Academic Success Coach who can help connect them with resources, local contacts, and helpful strategies to keep their students on track and engaged with schooling.
The Engage Ohio Academic Success Coach is completely free and totally optional. Not all students or families will need this additional assistance. So far, nearly 1,000 CCS families have signed up.

Calls and emails from Engage Ohio are first going to families whose students have been considered chronically absent and missed more than 13% of the school year. This includes both excused and unexcused absences, recognizing that any missed time in the classroom can put children behind.
