Justice-Involved Youth

Columbus City Schools ensure the new provisions under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for justice-involved youth. The Act is the guiding source for educational stability of children in the juvenile justice system.  

The Justice-Involved Youth Liaison provides the coordination of ESSA services. As a result of this coordination of services, justice-involved youth receive equitable academic and social transitional support to overcome barriers and succeed in school. Through various community stakeholder collaborations, justice-involved youth receive:  

• internal and external transitional wraparound support
• school transitional plan
• credit recovery advocacy
• career readiness support
