• Whole Child

Gone are the days of considering students to be empty vessels to be filled. We recognize that each student enters our schools and classrooms with various factors that impact how the student engages in the learning opportunities in the classroom. A whole child approach broadens district and school focus beyond academics to include meeting students' social, emotional, physical and safety needs. This section asks that we consider each student as an individual, focusing on relationship building and helping the student to develop not just the academic skills but also the qualities and dispositions that will allow them to succeed in our community, moving away from traditional exclusionary practices for unwanted behavior and into using the behavior as communication and an opportunity for skill building.
