Special Events Safety Protocols

Columbus City Schools is unwavering in its commitment to keeping students, staff, and visitors safe. We continuously evaluate our security practices and proactively look for additional measures to ensure a safe environment. As we prepare for the new school year, we are pleased to share with you the new safety measures that have been put in place. These measures, which align with our ongoing commitment to your safety and well-being, are designed to provide a secure and protected environment for all.

As we begin our fall sports season, we want to provide some new security measures that will be in place, beginning with our first football Friday night games, which will start on August 23. These measures have been introduced to enhance the safety and security of all attendees. At most locations, Safety and Security Specialists will process all spectators and visitors through a single-entry point via the EVOLV High-Speed Weapons Detection Systems.

Students must provide their school ID; a parent or adult guardian must accompany middle school students; restrictions on bag size, no larger than 5x8 as in the past, and no strollers. New this year is there will be no admission or purchase of tickets after the end of the third quarter. Spectators are prohibited from re-entering after leaving the facility.   

As always, we appreciate your support in our efforts and that you have an enjoyable experience while attending any CCS events. We understand these changes may be inconvenient, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation. Your role in adhering to these measures is crucial and we value your contribution to our collective safety. Please remember, good security is never convenient, but it is always necessary.

The safety and well-being of our entire Columbus City Schools family are one of our highest priorities, and to remain proactive in addressing potential concerns, the District is reminding our CCS community about our security measures for all middle and high school athletic events.

• All high school students will be required to have a current and valid school ID to enter.
• NO Middle School students are permitted without a parent or guardian or accompanied by an adult.
• We will process ALL through EVOLV, including teams, officials, all game personnel, and spectators.
• All bags are subject to search by the District's Safety and Security; any prohibited items will be confiscated by the District's security specialists.
• No Bags: Bags larger than 5x8 are not permitted.
