The Superintendent's Community Facilities Task Force presented its initial recommendations on school closings/consolidations during the Board of Education Business meeting on Tuesday, May 7.

Scenario 1A - Eventually Close: Buckeye Middle School, Fairwood K-6, Siebert K-6, and Moler K-6
These reflect two different ideas for middle school in the South and Marion-Franklin communities.
In the first version, South High School becomes the regional high school receiving the high school students from Marion-Franklin.
Marion-Franklin then becomes the regional middle school receiving the grade 7 and 8 students from South, the 6-8 students from Buckeye, and the grade 6 students from all the area elementary schools.
Fairwood, Siebert, and Moler are expected to be consolidated with other area elementary schools.
In this scenario, Buckeye Middle School, Fairwood K-6, Siebert K-6, and Moler K-6 would eventually be closed.

Scenario 1B - Eventually Close: Marion-Franklin, Fairwood K-6, Siebert K-6, and Moler K-6
South High School becomes the regional high school receiving the high school students from Marion-Franklin.
Buckeye Middle School receives the grade 7 and 8 students from South.
The area K-6 schools remain K-6 rather than transitioning to traditional K-5 elementaries.
Fairwood, Siebert, and Moler are expected to be consolidated with other area K-6 schools.
In this scenario, Marion-Franklin, Fairwood K-6, Siebert K-6, and Moler K-6 would eventually be closed.

Scenario 2 - Eventually Close: West Broad, Valley View, and Lindbergh
Starling K-8 is converted to a traditional elementary school with grades K-5.
The middle school students (grades 6-8) from Starling would attend area middle schools.
West Broad, Valleyview, and Lindbergh would be consolidated with other area elementary schools.
In this scenario, West Broad, Valley View, and Lindbergh would eventually close.

Scenario 3A - Eventually Close: Columbus Gifted Academy, Cranbrook and Hubbard
There are two versions of scenario 3.
In the first, the Columbus Gifted Academy is moved to Dominion Middle School and Oakland Park Elementary School.
Gifted grades 6-8 would go to the middle school while the elementary grades would go to Oakland Park.
Cranbrook and Hubbard Elementary Schools would be consolidated with other area elementary schools.
In this scenario, eventually the Columbus Gifted Academy site would close as would Cranbrook and Hubbard Elementary Schools.

Scenario 3B - Eventually Close: Columbus Gifted Academy, Cranbrook and Hubbard
In the second version of scenario 3, Ridgeview Middle School is consolidated with Dominion Middle School.
The Columbus Gifted Academy is then moved to Ridgeview Middle School.
Cranbrook and Hubbard Elementary Schools would be consolidated with other area elementary schools.
In this scenario, eventually the Columbus Gifted Academy site would close as would Cranbrook and Hubbard Elementary Schools.

Scenario 4 - Eventually Close: Duxberry, North Linden, Northtowne, and Innis
In scenario 4, Linden-McKinley becomes a traditional high school with grades 9-12 with a new larger boundary with East. The 7th and 8th graders who currently attend Linden-McKinley will attend the local middle schools.
North Linden, Northtowne, and Innis Elementary schools would be consolidated with other schools in the area. Duxberry students would be returned to their home school or combined with Fort Hayes.
Eventually, Duxberry, North Linden, Northtowne, and Innis would be closed.

Scenario 5 - Eventually Close: Johnson Park, Sherwood, and Broadleigh
In scenario 5, East High School would receive Eastmoor and the boundary of East would be adjusted.
The Eastmoor Academy would become a middle school receiving students from Johnson Park and Sherwood Middle Schools.
Broadleigh Elementary would be consolidated with neighboring schools.
In this scenario, eventually Johnson Park, Sherwood, and Broadleigh would be closed.

Scenario 6A - Eventually Close: Columbus Alternative, Duxberry, Cols. Preparatory School for Boys, and Broadleigh
There are two versions of the 6th scenario.
In the first, Columbus Alternative High School is moved to East with an adjustment of the East boundary.
Fort Hayes would receive the elementary students from Duxberry creating a K-12 arts program on the Fort Hayes campus.
The Columbus Preparatory School for Boys would be moved to become a school within a school at the Columbus Preparatory School for Girls site.
And, Broadleigh would be consolidated with other area schools.
In this scenario, the Columbus Alternative High School and Duxberry sites would eventually be closed as would the Columbus Preparatory School for Boys and Broadleigh Elementary.

Scenario 6B - Eventually Close: Columbus Alternative, Cols. Preparatory School for Boys, and Broadleigh
In the second version of the 6th scenario, Downtown High School is moved to Fort Hayes creating a single career center.
Columbus Alternative High School is moved to Downtown High School.
The Columbus Preparatory School for Boys would be moved to become a school within a school at the Columbus Preparatory School for Girls site.
And, Broadleigh would be consolidated with other area schools.
In this scenario, the Columbus Alternative High School site would eventually be closed as would the Columbus Preparatory Schools for Boys site and Broadleigh Elementary.
