Junior JumpStart (JJS)

    Junior JumpStart (JJS) is a dual enrollment program for juniors that enables students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously. Participating juniors will spend a portion of their day at their high school and a portion of their day at Columbus State Community College completing their high school requirements and earning approximately 9 semester hours. Students must apply and be accepted into the program as 10th-graders.

    JJS… Assistance & Support

    JJS is a program under the umbrella of College Credit Plus (CCP). CCP was created by the state of Ohio in 2015. JJS offers an additional layer of targeted support and advising to ensure that cohort members are successful. It also allows students the benefit of collaborating with other CCS students. Participants are selected by the program committee in separate application and acceptance processes.

    JJS provides ASSISTANCE that covers:

    • The cost of tuition, books, and fees (fees like parking and campus rec center are not covered)
    • Extended COTA bus pass to help with transportation
    • Preference acceptance into Seniors to Sophomores for senior year

    Selected students will take classes with the district's program partner:

    • Columbus State Community College (CSCC) main campus


    Student Benefits Include:

    • Exposure to college coursework
    • Earn approximately 9 semester hours
    • High school AND college credit simultaneously
    • Courses weighted on a 5.0 scale
    • Added layer of targeted support in the form of:
      • Academic advising
      • Ongoing check-ins
      • Collaboration with other CCS students provided by cohort model

    Student Eligibility Includes:

    • Rising Juniors (students completing 10th grade)
    • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Completed 2 years of English with a B or better
    • On track to meet one state graduation option
    • Good attendance record and discipline standing
    • Meet Columbus State Community College (CSCC) admission requirements
    • Take CSCC Accuplacer or submit ACT/SAT scores

    Student Application Includes:

    • Transcript
    • Attendance and Discipline Records
    • Application Form
    • Essay
    • 2 Letters of Recommendation
