Our Mission

  • To improve academic achievement and promote optimal health by providing and linking students and their families to an array of school-based and community health and social services ranging from prevention to treatment.

School Nurse Role

  • School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing. Every Columbus City school is assigned a registered nurse who has received special training for their role as a school nurse. School nurses promote the health, wellbeing, and safety of every student. As a member of the educational team, the nurse supports student attendance, class participation and learning by collaborating with families and identifying and addressing health concerns and removing barriers that may impact the student's ability to reach their academic potential.

    CCS School Nurses:

    • Are Bachelor’s prepared Registered Nurses.
    • Are licensed or registered as a School Nurse through the Ohio Department of Education.
    • Adhere to laws and rules of the Ohio Board of Nursing and the professional standards of the National Association of School Nurses.
