March 30, 2022 -- On Thursday, March 10, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) changed Franklin County's COVID-19 Community Level to green (or Low). In response, on April 1, 2022, Columbus City Schools' classrooms and school activities may return to pre-pandemic routines and structures. We will also return to our pre-COVID-19 visitor policy.

At the same time, schools will continue to encourage all students, parents, and staff to wash their hands frequently, check for symptoms daily, and stay home if they are ill. Our response to COVID-19 will focus on quickly identifying students with symptoms and sending home sick individuals if warranted. In addition, the district will continue to work closely with our partner Columbus Public Health to identify potential clusters or outbreaks.

Although risk levels are reduced, COVID-19 is still present in our community, and we continue to recommend that staff and students stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if they have symptoms. Masks are optional in school and at school-sponsored activities. CCS encourages a mask-friendly culture, one where students and staff may choose to mask at any time.
