Spruce Run

  • Nestled on 50 acres near the Hoover Reservoir, the Spruce Run Environmental Education Center offers Columbus City Schools middle and high school students an escape to nature during Summer Experience. Since it was deeded to CCS in 1974, Spruce Run continues to provide a unique setting for environmental students and outdoor learning.

Students will participate in weekly mini-camps that will help them further develop an appreciation for nature, wildlife, and the world around them.

This summer, high schoolers will work side-by-side with teachers, scientists, environmentalists, and other special guests to learn about nature and animals and plant life thriving in their different habitats.

Students will also engage in project-based learning in their outdoor classroom settings, and high school students will even have the opportunity to earn credits toward graduation through specialty courses. [Recommended for upcoming Juniors and Seniors].
