Summer Experience

Summer camps are the perfect opportunity for students to stay active, engage in unique learning, and make lasting memories, and each of these is especially important for our youngest students. 

Each week students will participate in “mini-camps” at destinations like Spruce Run (pre-k and kindergarten only), the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, COSI, and more! These will keep students engaged in fun activities that enhance their skills in literacy, mathematics, and science, along with help them grow socially and emotionally.

This year’s Summer Experience will immerse students in six weeks of grade-appropriate enrichment at partner sites across the city. The curriculum will focus on strengthening students’ academic skills, leadership, and social-emotional learning through problem-solving and project-based learning, team-building activities, and theme-based design challenges.

Elementary Summer Experience also features unique, innovative programming for students at the following school sites: 

Fine Arts: Alpine Elementary, Berwick Elementary, East Linden Elementary
World Languages: Indianola K-8 School 
Family and Consumer Science: Georgian Heights Elementary 
Entrepreneurship: Stewart Elementary 
STEM: Starling K-8 

Summer Super Scholars Academy

The Summer Super Scholars Academy is an additional learning opportunity open to all Columbus City Schools first and second graders enrolled in Summer Experience, and it extends their weekly activities to five days of immersive learning. In addition to the enrichment happening Monday through Thursday, these students will continue  to increase foundational reading, writing, and math skills centered around the Friday theme of "Super Scholars." Students will attend the Super Scholars Academy at their registered Monday-Thursday site and follow the same arrival and dismissal schedules.
