  • K-12 Vocal Music

Columbus City Schools recognizes that vocal music instruction is a vital component of a well-rounded education, fostering personal growth, academic achievement, and community engagement.  Singing is one of the most accessible forms of music-making, requiring no external instrument beyond the human voice, and therefore provides all students with an immediate entry point into the study and practice of music. Vocal music instruction contributes to the lifelong enjoyment of the arts. Singing is an expressive outlet that can be sustained throughout adulthood, enhancing quality of life, strengthening community bonds, and encouraging ongoing creative engagement. Vocal music education cultivates intellectual growth, social connection, cultural awareness, and personal expression, ensuring that students are equipped to thrive as learners, creators, and responsible citizens.
