Individual Education Program
-
Special Education services are identified through the Individual Education Program (IEP) process. They are designed to meet the individual needs of each child and to ensure progress toward the general education curriculum. Parents, teachers, and related services staff work together to develop a plan which identifies goals, objectives, accommodations, modifications, and services to meet the needs of the child. IEPs are monitored at least quarterly, and reviewed annually.
Special Education services are provided to students with disabilities by “highly qualified” teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals. Services are provided to students through a continuum of least restrictive environment settings, including:
General education classroom with accommodations/modifications- Inclusive classroom
- Small group instruction (tutoring)
- Resource room instruction
- Self-contained classroom instruction
- Self-contained classroom in a separate public school building
- Partial hospitalization/day treatment program
- Hospital setting
- MR/DD school setting
- Home instruction
Additional Information can be found on the U.S. Department of Education website.
