Individual Education Program

  • Special Education services are identified through the Individual Education Program (IEP) process. They are designed to meet the individual needs of each child and to ensure progress toward the general education curriculum. Parents, teachers, and related services staff work together to develop a plan which identifies goals, objectives, accommodations, modifications, and services to meet the needs of the child. IEPs are monitored at least quarterly, and reviewed annually.

Special Education services are provided to students with disabilities by “highly qualified” teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals. Services are provided to students through a continuum of least restrictive environment settings, including:

Progress reports for students receiving special education services will be sent home eight times during the 2016-2017 school year. These progress reports directly address the goals of your child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and are different from the regular report card you also receive from your child’s school.
