Transition Services
-
Columbus City Schools provides individualized transition and planning for students with disabilities. The foundation for transition is best done early on at the elementary, middle, and high school years as outlined by the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Each high school has a Transition Coordinator who is dedicated to working along side the student and his or her family to provide:
- Career Exploration
- Career and Technical Training
- Internship Opportunities
- Post Secondary Education Opportunities
In addition, each Special Needs Transition Coordinator is committed to provide instructional assistance in independent living, becoming more involved in the community, and how to maintain satisfactory personal and social relationships.
Project SEARCH is a one-year internship and employment program designed for students with disabilities who are in their last year of high school.
